Freycinet | Radenti R3 | Multi-vintage
Tasmanian born Claudio Radenti's interest in wine came about at an early age from helping his father who like many Italians made wine annually for the family. Claudio fondly recalls, when aged just 6, turning the grape crusher handle for his dad.
Commencing in 1993, Radenti Sparkling was the first premium Sparkling wine produced on the East Coast of Tasmania and it has earned a formidable reputation for quality over the years winning many Trophies and Gold medals at various wine shows. The current release is called R3 and it follows the very successful 2011, only this time it is a non-vintage blend (hence R3).
Expect an array of spices, almonds, brioche and lemon butter on fresh toast. Fresh florals, waxy lemon, ripe apricots and freshly baked pastry nose. The structure is immaculate and the length seriously good. The seductively creamy texture is a real highlight and there is a flick of bitter almonds right at the finish. This is a sparkler of the highest quality. 97 points Ken Gargett.
