Henschke | Johanne Ida Selma | Blanc de Noir MD | Multi-vintage

- +

Rarely do you see or better, taste an Australian sparkling wine that has been aged for 18 years prior to release. The talented team at Henschke have created something truly unique. This is a Blanc de Noirs sourced from the higher altitude sites in Lenswood, Piccadilly Valley. 'MD' stands for 'Mature disgorged' and it has multiple vintages blended in.

What we think ... Red apple skin, perfumed black fruit, black raspberry, damson plum, blueberries and spicy vanilla on the nose. The palate is dry, fresh and luscious. Some smoky-berry coming through and silky soft texture via the lees.

We love the little tannin showing itself and the juicy, clean acids dancing on the palate with forest berries and pastry. Elegant and powerful.

Have with duck pancakes hoisin sauce. Tastes even better the next day.

Awards & Reviews

"This is a beautifully characterful, expressive and powerful blanc de noirs that masterfully captures the depth of pinot noir and the tension of the heights of Lenswood. Pinot noir speaks in a deep voice of satsuma plums, black cherries and layers of mixed spice, riding a line of focused, finely poised acidity." - 94 points, Tyson Stelzer
