Well hello! This is, in our humble opinion, the brightest sparkling wine from Tissot. Made from 100% Chardonnay, it can compete with the very best that Champagne has to offer, even outperforming some of them. ‘BBF’ stands for ‘Blanc de blancs, Eleve en Fut’ meaning it is made with all white grapes and 75% of it is aged in a Burgundy barrels (228 litre) for 12 months.

Toasted caramel, malt biscuit and warm chestnut and hazelnut are all playing a mesmeric melody. Hyper dry on the palate with a mealy texture. This is serious wine and one that would do well with some food. Anything grilled or even roasted. Fried Chicken comes to mind as does a toasted walnut salad with goats cheese. What a wine! 94 points

The Tissot family produces a very large range of ‘small batch-single site’ wines. The winemaker Stéphane is infectiously passionate and enthusiastic, intense, intelligent and also charismatic. Tissot is a talented and individualistic producer.

All vineyards are strictly biodynamic and the yields are kept very low. Wild ferments, extended lees contact and reductive handling is the style here.

‘The NV Cremant du Jura BBF Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs smells like a serious Champagne. It is a blend of 2016 and 2017; the 2016 matured for 12 months in barrique and the 2017 only in tank. This is 100% Chardonnay. The wine was kept for some four years on the lees before disgorgement in Feb 2018. It has a smoky character, lots of notes of baked bread and brioche, as well as creamy texture and great length. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to follow up on these non-vintage wines, but this bottle can surely age.’
